Kigali
Rwanda’s vibrant capital, blends modernity with history. Its clean streets, bustling markets, and cultural hubs offer a glimpse into urban life, while the Kigali Genocide Memorial provides a reflective space to honor the nation’s resilience and past.

Nyungwe Forest National Park

Established as a national park in 2004, it is a vast area of mountain rainforest, home to many species of chimpanzees, plus owl-faced and colobus monkeys. A pristine rainforest with canopy walks, chimpanzee tracking, and diverse bird species.

Akagera National Park

The park lies in eastern Rwanda and is characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork.

Lake Kivu

Rwanda offers diverse wildlife safari experiences, with Akagera National Park being the prime location for exploring savannah landscapes. The park is home to a variety of wildlife. Among the most elegant inhabitants of Akagera are the impalas, known for their agility and sleek movements.

Rwanda’s cultural tours offer insights into its traditions, history, and daily life. Visitors can explore local crafts, music, and dance in community-based programs, visit the **King’s Palace Museum** in Nyanza, or engage with history at the **Kigali Genocide Memorial**.

Best Time to visit Rwanda

Rwanda’s climate is mild and temperate, making it a year-round destination, but certain seasons are better suited for specific activities.

The dry seasons, from June to September and December to February, are ideal for gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing. Trails in the Virunga National Park and other reserves are more accessible during these months, and animals are easier to spot as vegetation is less dense.

The rainy seasons, from March to May and October to November, bring lush landscapes and blooming flora, enhancing the natural beauty of the country. While trekking can be more challenging due to muddy trails, this period is excellent for birdwatching, as migratory species arrive.

Lake Kivu, Kigali, and cultural sites can be enjoyed in any season. Choosing the best time to visit Rwanda depends on personal preferences for wildlife encounters, outdoor activities, and the country’s green scenery.

Bear in mind that each season has its own particularities, and that a non-advised season may well correspond perfectly to your specific needs.
