The best time to visit Tanzania depends on the experience you're seeking, as the country’s seasons shape the wildlife and weather. The dry season, from June to October, is ideal for wildlife viewing, especially in parks like Serengeti and Ngorongoro, where animals gather around water sources. This is also the best time to witness the Great Migration crossing the Mara River in northern Serengeti.
November and December bring short rains, refreshing the landscape without disrupting travel too much, making it a quieter time to visit. January and February offer another window to catch the migration, particularly the calving season in the southern Serengeti.
The long rains, from March to May, bring lush greenery, but some parks may be harder to access. However, for those seeking fewer crowds and vibrant landscapes, this off-peak season can provide a different, more serene experience.
Bear in mind that each season has its own particularities, and that a non-advised season may well correspond perfectly to your specific needs.
